Y se ve bastante bueno… en serio, no es broma.

Microsoft lanzó públicamente la beta 2 de IE8 y en un montón de idiomas disponibles. Después de crear los peores exploradores, por fin se están poniendo las pilas estos muchachines, lanzando un producto que sorprende. Las mejoras con respecto a la beta anterior, y respecto a las versiones anteriores de IE, son notables.

Entre las características de esta versión tenemos:

Navegación privada: Pero de verdad. Llamada InPrivate, no solo se limita a no almacenar cookies, archivos temporales o historial, sino que impide que páginas como Google o la misma Microsoft puedan recopilar historiales y datos de nuestra navegación y comportamiento en la web. También permite llevar una lista con los sitios que deseemos navegar siempre en modo incógnito. De esta forma InPrivate se activará automáticamente al intentar acceder a ellas.

Grupo de pestañas: Las pestañas llegaron para quedarse. IE8 es capaz de agrupar pestañas mediante colores de acuerdo a la página de la que provienen. Podemos cerrar todo un grupo, desagruparlas para dejarlas independientes o agregar pestañas manualmente a un grupo.

Webslices: Como su nombre lo indica son “rebanadas web”. Nos permite tener a mano segmentos de una pagina web para monitorear solo la parte que nos interesa. El sitio web debe aceptar esta tecnología

Aceleradores: Esta herramienta nos permite seleccionar un texto o una dirección para luego acceder a diferentes servicios web, como traducciones, búsquedas, etc.

Nueva pestaña: La nueva pestaña es una de las mayores innovaciones. Presenta información sobre pestañas cerradas, un acceso directo a InPrivate y permite iniciar algún Acelerador. En parte se parece a lo que Google Chrome ha logrado.

Smart Bar: Barra de direcciones inteligente. Nos muestra sugerencias y resultados de búsqueda de acuerdo a los términos que vayamos tipeando en tiempo real. Ahora se ofrece un mayor control sobre las sugerencias permitiendo eliminar las que no queremos que vuelvan a mostrarse.

La compatibilidad de IE8 y el respeto a los estándares ha mejorado bastante. Logró pasar el test Acid2 y en Acid3 obtiene un buen resultado. Mas bajo que los otros navegadores, pero para ser IE es bastante bueno.

También se ofrece un modo compatibilidad para aquellas paginas que requieran de IE7 para mostrarse correctamente, como es el caso de este blog, donde IE8 no pudo manejar Prototype dejando sin efectos lindos el manejo de imágenes. Y tanto que me costo hacerlo compatible con IE7…
El botón para activar esta opción se encuentra al lado de la barra de direcciones.

Se mejoró el consumo de RAM, el filtro para combatir phishing, un nuevo filtro para impedir la ejecución de Active X, y otros detalles que hacen de este explorador digno de probar.

Como dato freak, me dio problemas con Windows Live Writer. Cuando quería abrir un borrador almacenado localmente se cerraba. Tuve que volver a IE7.

    i am a firefox user more than an internet explorer user but it seems that Internet explorer 8 is very stable and it its loading time for webpages is faster too.
